Who are Grow Our Own?

Grow Our Own is funded by The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead to provide services to the Residents of Windsor and Maidenhead.

We provide support, advice, guidance and training to local residents who want to find new employment, increase their skills or start their own business. We are passionate about Apprenticeships and manage the scheme for work placements and apprenticeships on behalf of the Borough and are committed to working with employers to increase the number of placements on offer. As a lead partner on Elevate we work alongside other local partners to provide employment support for Young people aged between 16-24. The project is based at the Elevate Hub and is part funded by the EU and RBWM.

Our aim is to match local people to local jobs, whatever their background or circumstances, at every skill level – from junior operative to senior executive.

Grow currently offers:

Monday drop in 10 – 2 every week at Maidenhead Town Hall

  • One to one initial chat with an IAG (information and guidance) counsellor to assess the situation and provide an action plan, this is on a drop in basis we don’t make appointments. Follow ups to happen when needed on the same drop in – no appointment format
  • Grow your IT Course, this is a four week programme for IT beginners
  • National Careers Service is also there all day to provide CV’s and careers advice.
  • Customers can sit and do the practice theory for their CSCS cards (construction jobs requirement) – three passes from us and the job centre will pay for the course if they are signed on
  • We have a bank of computers where customers can search/apply for jobs or print off application forms
  • Local jobs papers and local job adverts including a table of services in the area are on display
  • We can enrol residents onto courses run by the Community Learning & Skills Service team. Click here for more information
